What do you do when your friend is in the midst of a storm and there’s no obvious way out other than riding it out?
Here are my suggestions.
Show up. In messages, in person, with coffee (or tea, whatever is their thing). Maybe it’s asking how you can help. Sometimes it’s being a bit bold and offering to come and do a load of laundry for them. Or bring dinner or flowers.
Pray with them. Sitting and listening to what’s actually going on for them and then praying earnestly and fervently with them can be the most helpful thing. Continue to pray for them when you are not with them.
Most of all, this is an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Coming with compassion and love to an already tricky situation.
Do you have any great suggestions?
