Ecclesiastes 5:6 Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands?
As leaders one of the things we must guard against is over committing ourselves. Very often we are afraid to say no, or prefer to say yes. This leads to more and more commitments and then more and more load on our backs.
If we are not careful, we can become so overloaded that we become unproductive, unsuccessful or just simply too unwell to carry on.
Has your mouth overloaded your back?
1. Recognize the situation and call it as it is. Your back is overloaded and your mouth (or pen or signature) has been the major contributor.Learn to say no.
2. Stay committed to your purpose and absolute essentials. The answer to everything else is no. This will prevent you from adding additional load to your back.
3. Gradually and strategically offload. Delegate, withdraw, outsource, defer as you need to, so that you can be maximally productive again. ~Greater Leadership Excellence
